I finished a new shoulder bag this afternoon. Its made from a soft sueded vinyl that looks a lot like leather. You can wear it over your shoulder or across chest. Its a great size bag, perfect for everyday.

The "Arts and Flowers" Event turned out to be a great show. I am very happy at the turn out. I went above and beyond my goal! Yay! Now its back to work; time to get busy on some new designs. I am definately looking forward to coming back and participating again next year. I met so many great people, made some new contacts and am motivated all over again;) I have another show on Saturday; much much smaller, so I will be busy making some new items for that one all day tomorrow. Will post some progress photos on that soon. Yesterday I made to commitment to participate in Victorian Christmas in Nevada City California where I will be sharing a booth with another artist/jeweler and good friend from Verdi. The fun part about that is we have to dress in Victorian Style Costume. Should be fun!
Here are a few of my newest shop additions. I had fun with the last case;(lower left) made with scrap leather and vinyl. I used some small pieces of leather and a piece of scrap zipper to decorate the flap. I already have some ideas using this same style to make some larger bags and hope to share those with you very soon. Ordered more business cards today and getting last minute merchandise together for Thursday's big event. Yesterday was a day filled with pricing and getting everything ready and packaged up. I am really looking forward to it. I will try and take a few photos to post here by the weekend. Looks like I will be busy for the next week. I have another show happening this weekend. Time to slow down just a bit.. :)
I love the color combo in this one. After hours of cutting and machine applique I began to question out loud why I didn't just use a printed fabric and make it easier for myself; then my son answered, "Thats what makes your work so unique mom;)" I just love him!

Here it is. Super Cute!
Here is something I have been holding onto. It was going to originally be a wall hanging but last week I decided that it would make a nice tote bag. I will be working on it this evening and give you some progress photos tomorrow. There is something so cool about giving the scrap upholstery fabrics and leather a new life. This is why I enjoy working with these materials so much. I would really like to get back into more of the art form of sewing and doing more fabric art and applique work. This one has a leather tree trunk and I used microfiber and ultrasuede for the flowers and upholstery for the bird and some of the leaves. The background is a piece of scrap upholstery that I prepped with acrylics.
Cute smaller zippered case in brown. Now available in my shop.
Here it is, yay! OMG I am sooo exhausted. Time for a nice hot bath and some relaxation. Things are just finally catching up to me, been working hard all week.
Making progress. I like the darker gray a lot. Seems to separate the colors better than the previous tan one. I even started working on a small coin purse with mini applique. A little trickier to sew this one with the smaller size.
I have been experiencing "Artist block" all day. It must be the acupuncture treatment I had this morning, I feel like taking a nap. Even though I drew out a new bag design in my sketchbook last night, I've had a hard time getting excited about it for some strange reason. I am having one of those days, so I decide to make the last bag design in a different color; make it easy on myself. Using dark gray leather for the background. I think the color is going to pop nicely. Stay posted on my progress here.
Here is it! I love how the fabric and leather mix with each other adding so much texture to the piece. For more views take a look at this one in my Etsy shop
